Two rooms were constructed near the waterfall just outside the village, Kajiaan. It was surrounded by gardens and meadows. Sadhus and Mahatmas often came and stayed in this beautiful place. They would stay for a few days, hold kathas and kirtans, and then return. Sant Ram Singh, who was a Brahmin by caste, was something of an ascetic. He, too, stayed in this spot for sometime. He never stayed in one spot for too long, lest he develop an attachment with the place, but where the blessed congregation was completely immersed in their devotion, those who uttered and heard the holy verses would stay longer than intended.

Baba ji was born to father Kripa Singh and mother Sooba Devi in village Kajiaan in the Rawalpindi district in Pakistan in 1826 A.D. At that time, Bedi Sahib, Baba Sahib Singh, the eleventh generation descendant of the Great Guru Nanak Dev ji’s family was in the seat.
Kajiaan village was blessed with natural greenery and cool waterfalls abounded. Some great Sadhu or Mahatama was sure to establish a base there to enjoy the beauty of the natural scenery and to find solitude in order to recite the name of God. In this way, the village would always be humming with activity. Baba Sahib Singh Ji Bedi had halted here with his disciples while on his journey.

Sant Karam Singh Sahib ji followed his daily routine without exception, and as he prayed, he paid a lot of attention to serving and remembering God. One evening, while he was about to begin reading the Shri Rahiras Sahib ji, the thought that he should find solitude to enjoy the reading of the scriptures and baani occurred to him. So he clad himself in simple attire, and sat in solitude to enjoy Rahiras Sahib ji. As he read with total devotion, he got stuck at one line, and he kept on reading it repeatedly. This line was the fourth Patshahi Dhann Guru Ram Dass's line: Tere bhagat tere bhagat salaahni tudhu ji hari anik anek ananta.” He went into a trance as he perused the line over and over again.
